New Service Lead for The Promise, Roxanne will be working closely with both the staff and children throughout FCA Scotland to lead a collaborative approach where all children feel valued, safe and listened to.

Meet Roxanne…

"I am so excited to be starting in my new role as Service Lead for The Promise in FCA Scotland. My previous employment experience was as an administrator in a local authority, where I worked with the Family Placement and Disability Resource Teams from 2004 before moving to FCA Scotland in 2008. I have worked in the Referrals Service for the last 13 years, and am well aware of what a fantastic and skilled group of foster carers we have and how amazing our children and young people are.

The Independent Care Review was such an important piece of work for care experienced young people and families in Scotland and I am delighted to be able to progress the Plan and Foundations of The Promise for FCA Scotland as an organisation, as we work to shift our policies, practice and culture to ensure that every child in our care grows up loved, safe, respected, and able to realise their full potential.

One of the findings from the Independent Care Review and key points of The Promise is how important active listening and engagement is, and therefore I will be working closely with our Children and Young People Support Service to ensure that our children and young people have the chance to have their voices heard, and will be going along to planned young people’s events and groups, as well as looking at setting up some specific participation groups/events relating to The Promise.

I am also looking forward to meeting up with our carer group in the coming months to give them a chance to contribute any views they may have about how FCA Scotland should be adapting in line with The Promise, and also to hear whether they feel that they could be further supported as foster carers, to be able to ensure that the children they care for feel loved and safe.

I’m really looking forward getting started in my new role, and I know that together with our brilliant staff team, foster carers and young people, FCA Scotland will #KeepThePromise."
