Time to Shine
A massive congratulations to our Referrals Officer, Kirsten for winning the company wide Time to Shine Award for March! Well done and thank you!
Staff Forum
It was lovely to have the FCA Scotland team gathered in Cambuslang for our Staff Forum where we were also joined by our Senior Managers, John and Mark. This was a great opportunity for the team to come together and share examples of our achievements, progress and ideas for the year ahead. It was such a positive and fun day.
Jobs Fair
FCA Scotland and some of our young people attended the UK Jobs Fair in Glasgow. After looking around all the stalls and considering what jobs they might be interested in, our young people had useful conversations about their future. It was a very busy, successful event and our young people left with lots of opportunities and ideas to discuss further.
Re-cap Of Recent Training and Workshops
We recently welcoming Laura from LANDED, who led an insightful discussion on the critical topics of sexting, its risks, the legal implications, and strategies for staying safe online. The session was incredibly informative, leaving everyone better equipped to navigate the digital landscape safely. A big thank you to Laura for her invaluable contribution!
We were also honoured to have Sharon from Dyslexia Scotland join us at FCA Scotland. Sharon shared a wealth of information that will significantly aid our efforts to advocate for young people in educational settings. The insights gained were exceptionally beneficial and will undoubtedly facilitate important conversations within schools. We are immensely grateful to Sharon for her expertise and support.
If you’re interested in fostering, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch and give us a call on 0141 646 4805.
Kicking The Summer Off At YouthBeatz Festival
The Summer holidays have started with the first of our Summer events taking place. FCA Scotland’s summer events as a number of our young people attended YouthBeatz Festival in Dumfries, enjoying the fairground rides, some yummy food and music from SaintPhnx, Cascada and Sigala as the headline act to finish the festival! Everyone had a great time (including some of our staff!) and we were even lucky enough to have some blue skies and sunshine as we enjoyed the music.
Welcome to the FCA Scotland Team
We would like to introduce Suzanne, the newest member of the FCA Scotland Team. Suzanne is an Administrator based at our Head Office. She is looking forward to meeting our foster carers, young people and staff and will be popping up at various events to say hello. Please join us in giving her a warm FCAS welcome.
Celebrating Angela’s Incredible Achievements
A massive congratulations to one of our Carer Reps, Angela, for her recent enormous personal achievements. Angela decided in 2023 to attempt two challenges per year whilst raising awareness and money for charities she has been involved with. So far, she has completed a Fire Walk in aid of The British Heart Foundation and the Swim22 Challenge for Diabetes UK, she swam the equivalent of the English Channel. We are incredibly proud of Angela and everything she has achieved.
Welcome to our new foster carers
An enormous welcome to our newly approved foster carers, Megan and Lochlan. Congratulations from everyone here at FCA Scotland.
Going The Extra Mile Together
Foster carers, staff, children and young people, family members, friends and dogs came together to walk around Lochore and Strathclyde Parks, covering an incredible 100 miles despite the rain. Our children and young people who could not attend the organised events cycled, ran and trampolined their way to nearly 15 miles!
We started with a modest fundraising goal of £300, but thanks to everyone’s generosity, we doubled that and then some, raising an impressive £770 so far!
A huge thank you to everyone who made a donation to our Just Giving page. Your contributions will support local foodbanks across Scotland, making a significant difference in our communities. 🥫Image❤️ImageThere’s still time to donate and help us make an even bigger impact! Our theme for the weekend was “Going The Extra Mile Together,” and we certainly did that. Such a fun day was had by everyone and we are already looking forward to making this an annual event to raise funds for local charities.
