Here at FCA Scotland, we are very proactive in encouraging staff and carers to attend our training. One of our referral officers, recently attended training on brain development and the impact of early infant trauma, facilitated by our FCA Scotland therapists. Here is their account of the training session.
‘The training covered the different functions of the brain, how it develops from birth, attachment and how the body responds to trauma. The topic was interesting and the trainers were well informed, engaging and enthusiastic. I really enjoyed it and as well as it being a great learning experience, it was a good opportunity to catch up with some of our carers and hear how our children and young people are getting on.”
At FCA Scotland we believe training and progression is a vital part of every foster carer’s journey. The more you know, the bigger the impact you will have on the lives of the young people in your care. Along with brain development training, you have the opportunity to attend regular courses held at our offices across Scotland. We make it easy for you to fit it in around your family life.
Other training we offer includes;
• Safer caring
• Attachment and child development
• Promoting positive behaviour
• First aid
• Child protection
