During July we held our second young person’s participation event of the week in respect of The Promise. This event was held in the Lochgelly Centre for our young people from the East of Scotland. A lot of our families are away on lovely summer holidays already so we were really pleased to have seven of our young people come along on the day. Some of our young people enjoyed designing their own flower pots before planting their own Promise wildflower seeds to take home. We are now looking forward to seeing pictures of these as they start to grow!
We also had some arts and crafts set up, and the young people enjoyed painting some canvases, some of these in The Promise theme which they kindly allowed us to take for our Promise display in the office.
We had a lovely lunch delivered from the café, along with some nice snacks, and then set up the xBox for some of the young people who wanted to play. Once again, the time flew by and it was really lovely to see the young people participate in the activities and chat away with each other, as well as having the opportunity to make suggestions for the next events.
The two Promise participation events have set the summer holidays off to an amazing start, and we still have a busy event calendar of fun activities to take place. After the summer we will then be looking at holding these participation groups on a regular basis going forward, with the young people leading on the activities they would like to do.
