“It’s lovely to see the difference from when they first came to you, to the confident young people they are growing into.”

Foster carer Linda from North Lanarkshire shares her fostering highlights over the past 18 years, and the support she’s had with FCA Scotland.

Linda, who is a short-break carer for FCA Scotland, made the transition to foster after doing childminding and working around her son.

She explains: “Fostering was something I could do whilst working from home. I thought I’d give it a try all those years ago, and fast forward to today and I’m still doing it!”

She continues: “I can see a big change in me for the better. I’m more tolerant and patient. In all the years I’ve been fostering, I’ve never known an agency so helpful, kind, and thoughtful. The people are lovely and that’s what makes the job.”

Something that’s so rewarding is the young people want to come back, they want to come back to see you for a holiday. It’s amazing seeing them with their carers thriving and loving their forever home environment. It’s lovely to see the difference from when they first came to you, to the confident young people they are growing into.”
