New foster carers induced with a warm welcome

In February our newly approved foster carers were welcomed into the office for their induction. They were met by staff who wished them all the very best in their fostering career.

Time to Shine

We also celebrated foster carers who were January 2024 “Time to Shine” winners! With a remarkable 16 year commitment as foster carers with FCA Scotland, they consistently surpass expectations in providing exceptional care to the children and young people who live with them. Congratulations on this well deserved recognition!

Apprenticeship Week

We marked Apprenticeship Week and across the country and there is lots of activity happening. Some top sites for our young people to have a look at for information for help and support if considering an apprenticeship as part of their future are:

My world of work : www.myworldofwork.co.uk

Apprenticeship.scot: www.apprenticeship.scot

Developing young workforce: dywfife.com, dywwest.co.uk, dywayrshire.com

These sites have a range of information to help you pick a apprenticeship that you are interested in as well as various webinars for carers and young people to join together. There will be information on Modern apprenticeships and foundation apprenticeships and what the difference is and what will support you in your future. All these suggested sites are available and accessible via social media platforms such as Facebook.

Foster Carer Training

February saw the final day of training for potential foster carers, some wonderful learning and sharing took place.  Thank you to everyone who attended, including our very own experienced foster carer Della.

If you’re interested in fostering, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch and give us a call on 0141 646 4805.

Children’s activity event

Children and young people in the East and West of the country came together for a bowling activity at Hollywood Bowl where they also had their say on this year’s events calendar. Throughout the year our young people put forward their suggestions and these contribute to the calendar for the following year. Some of the suggestions were fab with Blackpool proving to be a popular suggestion once again. Once the suggestions were done, it was straight on to the bowling and the competition was strong for this. There were spinning shots, shots that resulted in strikes but most importantly there was good fun with everyone being involved. Thanks to everyone for coming along we can’t wait to see you all at the Easter events.

Supporting #CareDay

Here at FCA Scotland we joined Become and Who Cares? Scotland to celebrate #CareDay – the world’s biggest celebration of children and young people with care experience. Our FCA Scotland team got behind the day 100% and were involved by taking ‘Hands up for Care Day selfies’ to show our support for all our wonderful children and young people. Check out our photos on our Facebook page.

Welcome to our new foster carers

We welcomed Nicole and Fergie, our newly approved foster carers. We are delighted to have them as part of the team and look forward to meeting with them both.

Staff Appreciation Day

March brought a special focus on appreciating the hard work and dedication of FCA Scotland’s team members with Staff Appreciation Day.  The day was nothing short of amazing.  To kick off the festivities, we started our day on a sweet note with a delightful spread of scrumptious cakes that set the perfect tone for the day ahead. Laughter echoed through the office as we came together for some brain teasing quizzes and a spirited game of bingo. There was definitely a healthy dose of competitiveness that only added to the fun! We then had a well deserved lunch. The delicious food and delightful company made for the perfect blend, turning an ordinary lunch into an extraordinary celebration. Staff Appreciation Day reminded us of all of the incredible team we have here at FCA Scotland.

To the amazing staff, you are the heartbeat of FCA Scotland and your dedication does not go unnoticed. Thank you for the laughter, the teamwork and the wonderful memories we created together today. Thank you for everything that you do.

Jimmy McFoster’s Monthly Mission Alert

Jimmy McFoster is undertaking a Monthly Mission from now until November and we’d love for you to support this journey. He’ll be visiting landmarks around Scotland and each month Jimmy will have a mission to collect specific items. These will then be collated into a welfare pack to help homeless people across Scotland this Christmas.

We hope our young people and foster carers will get involved and support Jimmy on this Monthly Mission. Good Luck from all at FCA Scotland.
